Tara & Chris Wedding Part One

Well it's now August 10th and I shot this wedding on June 20th, should go to show how much work goes into a wedding by the photographer, especially one who works alone on the images and also has a part time job. Relieved its coming to an end and I am stoked on the way everything came together. This is my first wedding.

"Oh wait...Was she a great big fat person?" - Silence of the Lambs

Man I've been doing terrible at updating this thing. It's so easy to update too!

Well at least they're big updates.

First on the list.

On May 2nd, I nearly broke my neck...literally. It's now the 14th and I feel exponentially better but still have limited movement in my neck. I hit my head on the sand very hard and all of my weight compacted my head into my spine and back, it was terrible and I had to go for xrays and the whole deal. Well some muscle relaxers and asprin's worked well...until I started having these pains in my stomach. What the hell was going on? Oh well, like an idiot, I was taking them on empty stomachs and may have burned a hole in my stomach...also known as an ulcer. The pain was terrible. I've been drinking lots of milk. Have I lost you yet?

I returned from my trip across America on the 26th of April, and it took me forever to even go through a couple of the photos, I still haven't gone through them all but here's a taste.

The other day I headed in to NYC with Bob Baldwin (Atlanticbodyboards.com) to meet up with Davo the french bodyboarder and Chuck Guarino (Plasticpeoplenewyork.com and TheCast.com)

and finally,

I have a short slideshow playing in NYC tonight here...

but for anyone who can't make it, you can watch it here:

"Hey! Save me a piece of that corn!" - Nacho Libre

Tomorrow April 4th, I'll be flying out to Moline to begin documenting America and Brookside's 6th U.S. Tour. Hopefully I can update the blog with images from the road, I'll be shooting constantly.

I've also just taken on a new project! Add it to the list haha. I'll be blogging for Swellinfo.com and hopefully putting in an entry once a week. The first week was just an introduction of myself to the readers which can be read here: http://www.swellinfo.com/surfnews/matthew-clark-interview.html

This past week, for my first official blog entry, I was lucky enough to interview one of my favorite photographers, Vincent Laforet. With every visit to his website I see more and more that I enjoy. Please check out the following.

A. The interview : http://www.swellinfo.com/surfnews/vincent-laforet-interview.html

B. Vincent's website: http://laforetvisuals.com/index.php

C. Vincent's blog: http://blog.vincentlaforet.com/

And here's some photographs of prints ( I don't own a scanner) I made last year that I just recently found.

All of the above images can be found on the website too.

3.30.2009 Update

This is for all you beautiful babies out there.

I had an exhibit at Bath House Studios on East 11th street in the city. It was a really nice venure and people walked around offering you delicious bite sized snacks. There was free Pabst Blue Ribbon flowing for all of the hunnies. There were three of my pieces displayed and the exhibit was pretty much an even split between surfing and skateboarding art/memorabilia. Andy Kessler had some amazing photos from years past, the photographers displayed were Snapwater, Jack Brull, Rob Kulisek, and Susannah Ray. Susannah's pieces were beautiful.

On Wednesday, I'll be interviewed by someone for the show "Zona de Impacto" which is on SPORTV. SPORTV is the biggest sports specialized TV channel in Brazil, part of Rede Globo, which is biggest TV Network over there. Sounds fun! I'm sure they will ask me about photography and living on the east coast as well as some videography.

On Saturday April 4th I'll be flying out to Moline, IL to meet up a friends band who will be just starting their 6th US tour. They'll be playing 21 shows in 21 days in 13 states. From New York to California and back.

I have to meet up with them in Moline rather than leave from New York because on April 3rd, Bobby Vaughn's new store FTW is having their opening night in which four of my photographs will be displayed, three permanently.

Below you'll find a small portion of the photographs that I've taken since the last update.

Online store updated.

I've added more print options and prints for anyone looking to give a gift to themselves or anyone else.

March happenings

On the second of the month we had quite the blizzard here in NY. Scored some chest to head high lines in 10 inches of snow. Was fun and stayed warm for a good two hours swimming around in the soup. There's snow on the port of most of the water shots which was a pain since I would pull the housing out of the water and immediately it would be covered in snowflakes.

On the third of the month James T., Joe P, and myself took a ride up north for some goody goodies. 40hrs and no sleep led to delirium.

From that quick shot up North I ended up with this Surfline feature titled "Ides of March"

While cruising on Surfline.com I saw that I had two of my photos I uploaded during February were up for photo of the month, which even though I didn't stand a chance against Clark Little's water shots of Keiki shorebreak, it's still flattering to have two of your photographs chosen out of the thousands that are uploaded for the photo of the month contest. Here's one of the images...

Last week sometime I met up with Bobby Vaughn who was a north shore wave slayer a couple years back. He started up Von Dutch years back and now has a new company named FTW. Watch out because this company is about to really take off if you don't already consider it taken off. Doors will be blown off the hinges. FTW has a new store opening up in Rockaway with opening night on April 3rd. I assure this party will make the walls crumble so be there. Also I might have a couple of my photographs hanging on the walls for opening night.

And finally I headed up to New Paltz for some family party times. Awesome stuff seeing the cousins and there little wookie kiddies. Lots and lots of little uhns up there, bad news for me when they start getting to the communion/confirmation/graduation times...better start saving up the dough now!

Past couple of days

Joe Parrino in some small scale surf and Godfather I, II, and III. Somehow I've never seen them from start to finish. More swell and snow on the way.

Secret Project Robot Exhibit

Saturday the 21st I had a show at Secret Project Robot in New York City, thanks to Mollusk Surf Shop. It went really well and a lot of people came to see the artwork. It was Jack Brull, Snapwater, Rob Kulisek, and myself showing. There was free drink and killed musics going on all night. Met a lot of people who knew my photographs from online postings and was a great way to celebrate the new website.

Here's some photos taken by Jacline.
